 The Impendle Municipality is a Category B municipality which is predominantly underdeveloped. Lower Loteni, Stepmore, Stoffelton, Inzinga, Impendle and Boston are strategic economic hubs of the Greater impendle. Impendle, being geographically positioned, it provides an important link between various municipalities and attraction, and is beginning to demonstrate favourable growth in terms of regional economical prospects. The nearest regional Pietermaritzburg airport, with daily flights to and from Johannesburg, is +/-70kms away from Impendle. Two Impendle regional roads (Impendle road and Stoffelton road) have been upgraded and tarred. Interestingly, Impendle is less than 3 hours drive from Ethekwini/Durban harbour.

Impendle provides access for tourists to travel to and from a portions of the Ukhahlamba Transfrontier Park, a World Heritage Site.
